Stephanie
Cool with a pristine richness.
She was my best friend in elementary school. We shared a name and did everything from having a frosting fight to weekend sleepovers. We were typical young girls.
As the middle school and high school years came and went we grew apart. Not uncommon. Then we were reconnected (through Facebook like everyone in Gen X). It was as if not a single day had passed. We picked up where we left off decades before. Only stronger this time.
We were mothers and professionals and still had everything in common. When I lost a parent she tracked me down in the airport (coincidentally we were at the same airport at the same time) and she just hugged me. She is just a text away whenever I need her and we welcome each other’s sarcasm.
She is proof that your childhood friends truly are lifelong friends.
